Film Review Research 2
Total Film magazine is a direct contrast to New Empress in that it's specialised more in keeping pace with the recent developments and gossip on upcoming films, preferably blockbuster films. It's evident from the slogan:
that they concern themselves with the freshness of their content and what they're reviewing for the sake of making as much profit as they can, this is further supported by a section of the homepage being dedicated to the "latest movie trailers, clips and interviews" and the biggest moments, wishlists and expectations of audiences. Also, on the articles, when a particular film is being compared to other films, there are links to the reviews for those films, attempting to keep the surfer on the website as long as they can; having a lot of clicks equate to a lot of profit.
As far as the actual reviews go, there's a catchphrase/slogan placed above a picture/screenshot of the film in review; the reviews endeavors to add sentiments to the nature of the articles to interact with younger audiences, namely advocates and enthusiasts. The language is both formal and eloquent (e.g. use of a lot of adjectives, careful use of punctuation and grammar) for the adults, and aims to include a lot of information in every article: a long block of writing to not deter older audiences and advocates, who are keen to learn about the film, although the articles have a "verdict" section for younger audiences and casual fans, who all but cannot bother with reading such a lengthy piece of writing, and want a summary of the writing instead. The films are stated in italic to isolate the film from the review and analysis, and highlight their importance, next to the picture of the reviewed film is a box for
the film's details: film's release date, film genre, producer for film, main cast, age certificate. For first impressions, there's a rating out of 5 stars next to the film's title.
