The New Empress magazine is an independent film magazine that has their hard-copy printed and issued on a monthly basis, it's regarded as:

the slogan defines the magazine's ethos/philosophy as an independent film company: the reviews and other pieces of writing found in the magazine striving to challenge pre-conceptions , stereotypes, perceptions and illustrate realism, along with the determination to showcase and nurture talented writers, editors, journalists, columnists etc, via providing them with a platform they can expand on.
The film reviews are conducted on classic and contemporary films, especially films in 3D, as well as films released straight to DVD and some newly-released films. Moreover, New Empress has their own review system implemented for films known as "The Torches of Truth", which seems to be based around how much realism is portrayed by the film to the audience, and the latter's understanding of the film also. Through the review system, which is placed at the bottom of each article/review, each film is given a rating out of 5 "torches", the more torches, the better the film review.
The layout consists of a picture/screenshot to begin the article, with the name of the writer and date smaller in font size, which it's grey colour is discrete from the colours used for other writing (e.g. main body of writing, film title etc). The beginning of every article, namely the first letter, is in bold and greater in font size and differs in font type as well; the idea is much likened to The Sun, Metro and other newspapers that involves the first word of each story being in capital letters. In addition, the first two paragraphs of articles consistently feature an overview and development of genre ideas, themes, perceptions, they then proceed to giving a synopsis/plot summary of the film, and then give the film it's critique.
The reviews tend to be brief in order to maintain interest from younger audiences, but ensuring the language and layout is formal to not scare the older audiences away. Also, for films released.bmp)
